Area Agencies on Aging

Area Agencies on Aging coordinate and support a wide range of home and community based services, including information and referral, home-delivered and congregate meals, transportation, employment services, senior centers, adult day care and a long-term care ombudsman program. They administer funding from the Older Americans Act that provides many of these services at a subsidized rate or at no cost at all.

Importantly, if you are not sure what your loved one needs, the Area Agencies on Aging will send someone to do an assessment in your relative’s home to discuss options and determine what services would best meet their needs. This person will also help to find out where needed services can be obtained, what they cost and what if any of the cost will be covered by a government program.
